ATTN: Clinic XXXXX, Dr. (YES I have the NAME!)
RE: Not drug testing patients who are using heroin Misappropriated funding via non compliance of rules and regulations as posted on walls of said facility;
• “Must bring back empty medication bottles or will not be dosed”
• “Must test negative for illegal drugs or will not get dosed”
I am writing this letter out of concern for my son, who is receiving social security and disability from the state deemed emotionally unstable since age 14, and a severe heroin/drug addict; Your patient ******.
My concerns are based on the facts of:
February 7, 2011:
I brought MY SON to XXX clinic to pick up his prescriptions prior to going directly to XXXXXHospital for detox • I reported to your staff I thought SON was shooting up heroin in the bathroom, the woman at the front desk knocked on door and told him to hurry.
My SON was NOT tested for drugs per stated on signs on the walls of your facility (I took pictures of signs) MY SON did not return any bottles.
• My SON came out of bathroom with complete change in demeanor from prior to entry into bathroom:
• SON”S ACTIONS PRIOR TO RESTROOM ENTRY
o hyper
o Confrontational
o Restlessness
o Irritable
o Rambling inchoherently
• SON’S ACTIONS AFTER (SHOOTING UP HEROIN) IN RESTROOM
o Calm
o Loving
o Peaceful
o Hugging me
SON admitted to me he shot up heroin in said restroom.
SON walked out of the clinic high on heroin with prescriptions for a total of 100 pills. Which included seroquel, vicoden, xanax.
He left these prescriptions in my car because I left the REHAB hosp via ambulance due to stress. I was unable to unpack his belongings. They remain in my care. I drove him directly to XX Hospital for detox treatment, where he immediately went into the restroom as I was signing in.
I contacted staff to report MY SON using heroin in restroom (as I contacted staff at first clinic) they sent 2 men and one woman staff members to the door of restroom and kept banging on the door that if he did not open the door they would kick it in.
They informed him they knew exactly what was going on and they were going to take his drug kit the minute he came out of restroom.
This is exactly what happened.
They took his drug kit. He stayed 4 days and left.
He has since reported to me he has been living homeless, sleeping in parks and a Church.
This upsets me because of a letter he wrote on May 12, 2011 stating thatSon’s GIRLFRIEND (GF)**** is listed at your facility as his caretaker. (see enclosed copy of letter)
May 11, 2011
was arrested in a park in Monrovia California for having drug kit on person; the police were called because of some disturbance of him in a sleeping bag in the park. Monrovia Police Department
Philip ***** and I picked up my son from his GF house*****’s Parent’s home where she resides at approximately 9:00 p.m.
**GF *gave me a bottle of soma prescribed to
My SON dated 5/11/2011 and 30 pills, when the bottle reached my hands there were 12 pills.
She also handed me 9 Suboxone strips I do not know how many were prescribed.
She also called him the next morning he was very sick with withdrawals, asking him to score dope. She called so many times that I Phoned Monrovia police and Burbank police to inquire my options to have this behavior stopped May 12, 2011 I called the pharmacy number on MY SON’s ’s pill bottle and spoke with **aa,
the supervisor at Xthe pharmacy a informed me that (GIRL F) usually picks up SON’S meds and she sometimes tries to pick up early.
I informed Supervisor of situation and gave her the police phone number.
SON found my notes and wrote on top of them.
This is the letter I am sending in addition to my complaint.
The letter in MY SON’ S handwriting states “The only reason I got the suboxone is because girlfriend agreed to take it” Please refer to 8th sentence from bottom of enclosed handwritten letter. Blake left my home to get more drugs on
May 13, 2011
to score xanx in his words. He phone for me to pick him up and I told him no.
He needs to be in a locked down facility where professionals can monitor his detox and help him It is my intention to bring this issue to the attention of the System agencies who govern these types of facilities and to the general public. Another of my concerns is the fact that
Clinic (CAN I NAME THE clinic NAME LEGALLY?) was in the news recently from going from non profit status to for profit and when that happened news reports surfaced
Major station News reported: Med CEO under investigation XXXXX , 20XX
Article reports: QUOTE But what most people may not know is that in 2008, when annual revenue was $130 million, XXX compensation package went from $396,000 a year to nearly $800,000 — in a year when California’s economy hit bottom, the state’s budget deficit went off the charts, and health care and seniors programs like his faced the budget axe. END QUOTE
I believe this program is not about helping people but a money making venture. because
safety protocols are not being adhered to. It is my belief that if this organization is indeed capitalizing this amount they should be able to provide adequate staffing to monitor drug testing per claims are posted on the walls of said facility.
